What is Iridology?
The birth of iridology is said to have been
around 1861 by Ignatz von Peczely, known as the father of iridology,
from Budapest, Hungary.
Bernard Jenson D.C., N.D., bringing its awareness to the United
States, began in the early1930’s. For over 60 years, Dr.
Jenson educated and treated thousands of doctors and patients
in the science of Iridology.
Iridology is not a therapy in itself, but
an alternative diagnostic tool, which is used by some practitioners
to identify the underlying
weaknesses in the human body. The markings and changes on the
iris of the eye are studied for indications of any health problems,
and bringing an awareness of the state of one’s health.
As in the mapping of reflexology or auricular therapy, the iris
is yet another hologram of the human body. Every organ and system
is detailed in the iris. It represents a communication system
capable of handling an amazing quantity of information. It helps
us to understand our inherent weaknesses so that we may strengthen
them, restoring harmony throughout the human body.
As a personal note from Dr. Jenson, written in Dr. Frisch’s
copy of his book titled, Iridology, The Science and
Practice in the Healing Arts, Dr. Jenson wrote, “Wisdom
is the ability to discover an alternative.” Taking this
message to heart, Dr. Todd feels there is no information too
peculiar to potentially learn something that might help to
identify cause and effect in a patient.
Iridology is a specialty that works well with any
other technique that is open-minded enough to see the information
it has to offer
and work with it. It is a holistic tool, in that it does not
deal specifically with one segment of the body, but realizes
the trinity of body, mind, and spirit as having interrelated functions.
Interpreting iris signs into terms of meaningful information
takes practice, skill, knowledge of the body in respect to its
anatomy, physiology, biochemical activities, and certainly
wisdom; wisdom to decide which information is immediately useful
and fits the individual from the standpoint of where the status
of their health lies at the present moment. Used correctly, and
in conjunction with other diagnostic techniques, iridology gives
a view into the big picture of ones health level that is not
available through any other diagnostic method.
